Safety and training issues

Every country presents basic statistics for 2007.
Denmark has no official statistics for 2007 yet, but no significant changes compared to 2006.

Discussion about training methods.
Trends is using AFF more and SL/IAD less.
Latvia and Lithuania use round canopies and AFF, no SL/IAD. Slight change towards AFF in Finland and other countries.
Estonia wants to know how to start with AFF. Usually some jumpmasters go to USA, later invite foreign coach to hold a course. Norway is not satisfied with USPA AFF, too easy to pass a course, low quality because it’s business for coaches who want everybody to pass. Denmark also has it’s own training system.

Sweden’s „new deal” project.
Everybody wants to hear about it but Sweden is not present.

Using soft pilot chute right after static line.
In Finland one club uses. Denmark is against it because their ripcord in the same place as BOC and there is no re-learning. Springloaded is considered safer for first freefall jumps.

Tandem-master training.
Denmark uses own training and certification system because of financial reasons, manufacturers want too much money. Finland uses Strong system, have 1 examiner.
You must have local tandem licence in Denmark, manufacturer’s licence is not enough. Norway decides case-by-case, time limited local licence may be issued for foreign tandemmaster.
Mutual recognition of tandem licences might run into some legal problems, insurance etc. Mutual recognition between bartic countries is not really an issue because usually people to go work in New Zealand or some other country with good weather.

Joint training camps
Norway: skills camps around Norway held by national team.
Denmark: several coaches from USA visit from time to time
Inform other countries if something is going on! It is good to share information if somebody plans to invite a world-class coach. Decided to write down official e-mail addresses for distribution list. (See attached)

Question about filming a tandem
Tandemmaster using handycam is not generally allowed. Usually no tandemmaster wants to film with handycam. Camera disturbs normal performance in emergency situation.

Political issues

IPC
Nothing in president’s report. IPC is mainly running competitions. Does nothing concerning development, legal regulations, airspace etc.
Denmark hopes that Thomas Tuominen from Finland continues in IPC because he is active and does useful things.

IPC proxies
Estonia does proxy for Finland and Lithuania for Sweden, as usual.

Revival of European Skydiving Assiciation.
Formally it does exist but does not do anything.
